Sadly legacy equipment that relies on computer drivers and software just falls off the support grid as technology marches forward. But that is just my opinion and not stating that as a fact. IMO, the UA Apollo pre's sound 10x better than the pre's in the 003. That's why after 13 years, I felt I got my money's worth out of the old system and time to refresh. I chose the LLM over having to shut down PT to listen to a reference track, You Tube etc. However with that I lost Low Latency Monitoring.

One was update the 003 driver to gain the support of the Agg I/O, meaning I could play iTunes without having to close Pro Tools. On my old system I had to make a decision on trade-offs. New iMac, new interface, and new PT Software.

I knew when I decided to upgrade, everything was going to have to be upgraded, a full tech-refresh. When I had mine (for 13 years) I ran it with a 2007 iMac, Lion running 10.7.5 and Pro Tools 10.3. Support for the 003 sadly went a way a long time ago.
